Prepares and presents annual operating and capital improvement budget to the Commission, City Council, Finance Director and City Administrator, and supervises all expenditures.Prepares, directs and executes short-term and long-term capital improvement programs and associated projects, including exploring options, soliciting project proposals, selecting project consultants, evaluating and recommending selection of project proposals, and coordinate project implementation with contractors.Develop, negotiate, and administer leases, contracts and agreements with all users on the airport property, including FAA, TSA, FTO Service, airline carriers, private hanger owners, t-hanger tenants, commercial bus company, private restaurant, car rental agencies, private museum, privately owned buildings on airport property, Iowa DNR, and farm tenants farming 300 acres of airport property.Coordinates the recruitment and negotiations with airline carriers servicing the airport. Interacts daily with the FAA on various airport operational issues. Conducts regular lobbying and information sharing activities with state lawmakers and federal regulatory agencies. Acts as liaison between the airport, other city departments, representatives of county, state, and federal agencies, commercial airline companies, military and private aircraft operators and other users of the airport facilities relative to mutual problems, overall policies and procedures, and legislative matters.Supervises, evaluates, directs, trains, hires and disciplines all airport staff.Directs all administration, maintenance, operations, marketing, financial and development activities of the airport, and responsible for a 1,100 acre airport, facilities, fire station, fleet, and equipment.

Responsible for the overall administration, financing, operations, marketing, maintenance and development of this certified commercial airport and related facilities in accordance with Commission policies, Federal and State regulations, and the ordinances and policies of the City of Mason City.Responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the operations and management of the Mason City Municipal Airport including maintenance and future development.
